The Volunteer Centre

The Volunteer Centre Rochdale Borough supports and promotes volunteering across the borough of Rochdale and works with individuals who wish to volunteer and with groups and organisations that use volunteers.
Welcome to the Volunteer Centre website we hope you find it useful whether you are interested in volunteering in the community or are recruiting volunteers. The Volunteer Centre was established as a core department within CVSR in 1997. It is part of Volunteering England and has gained accreditation against the five core volunteering infrastructure functions:-
1. Developing volunteering opportunities - works in close partnership with statutory, private sector and third sector organisations to develop volunteering.
2. Marketing volunteering – The department markets and promotes volunteering through local, regional and national events and campaigns.
3. Brokerage (i.e. information and referral for voluntary opportunities)
4. Good practice development - promoting good practice in working with volunteers to all volunteer involving organisations.
5. Strategic development of volunteering - strategic approach to the development of volunteering needs and existing practices of local volunteer involving organisations and is actively involved in relevant networks. The department will also take the volunteering lead in relation to the Local Area Agreement
6. Policy response and campaigning - maintaining awareness of local, regional and national government proposals and policies which may have an impact on volunteers or volunteer involving organisations.
