FUNDING OPPORTUNITY : Summer Schools Fund (01 Mar 2012)
The DfE is providing the Summer Schools Fund to help support up to 100,000 pupils making the transition from primary to secondary school. This transitional period has been identified by Ofsted research as a time where performance can take a significant dip. IdeasTap is a creative network and funding body for emerging arts talent, bringing young, creative people together and offering cash funding, opportunities and a portfolio to showcase their work. FUNDING OPPORTUNITY : Time to Change Grants Fund Now Open (23 Feb 2012)
The Time to Change Grants Fund is now accepting applications to support projects in England that address mental health stigma and discrimination by bringing people with and without mental health problems together. The Fund expects to distribute £2.7 million to approximately 75 projects across England from May 2012 to March 2015. There will be four rounds of funding with two in 2012 and two in 2013. FUNDING OPPORTUNITY : Ministry of Justice - Peer Support Fund (23 Feb 2012)
The Peer Support Fund 2012-2014 is accepting applications from voluntary organisations in England to provide support services to people who are bereaved by homicide. Grants can be used for the costs involved in setting up or running projects such as to pay for a worker or part worker to co-ordinate volunteers, telephone support, some travel costs and volunteer expenses. FUNDING OPPORTUNITY : Sportsmatch (22 Feb 2012)
Sportsmatch is a programme delivered by Sport England that was set up to encourage the business sector to invest money in sport at the grass roots level. All funding is expected to be allocated by the end of Autumn 2012 so it is advised for organisations to submit their applications as soon as possible. FUNDING OPPORTUNITY : Tap Water Awards (22 Feb 2012)
Tapwater.org is offering grants, through its Tap Water Awards programme, to help support educational establishments in the UK to reduce their dependency on bottled waters by installing mains fed water machines and providing reusable stainless steel bottles. Grants of between £300 and £5,000 are available to fund all or part of project costs. Educational establishments registered in the UK are eligible to apply, including: Schools, Colleges and Universities. FUNDING OPPORTUNITY : The Terrence Higgins Trust (22 Feb 2012)
The Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) is the leading HIV and sexual health charity in the UK and the largest in Europe. The Trust has re-launched its national Hardship Fund with the support of funding secured through the Elton John AIDS Foundation and the MAC AIDS Fund. Through the Hardship Fund, People in the UK who are living with HIV in severe financial need and third sector organisations working on their behalf may apply for support through this scheme. FUNDING OPPORTUNITY : Grants Schemes for War Memorials (22 Feb 2012)
English Heritage and the Wolfson Foundation, in association with the War Memorials Trust, established this grants scheme for the repair and conservation of free-standing war memorials in England. The scheme recognises the fact that, because memorials are such familiar features of towns and villages, they are often taken for granted and the condition of many of them has deteriorated as a result of neglect, damage or vandalism. The overall objective of this scheme therefore is to help those responsible for the upkeep of war memorials care and preserve them to a high standard and to prevent the decay of this important part of built heritage. This grant scheme funds up to 50% of a project's eligible costs, up to a maximum of £20,000 grant per project. There are two deadlines a year: 31 March and 30 September. Further Information
FUNDING OPPORTUNITY : Help the Homeless (22 Feb 2012)
Priorities/Aims: The aim is to assist homeless people in rebuilding their lives and finding their way successfully back into society. Projects must assist individuals in their return to mainstream society, rather than simply offering shelter or other forms of sustenance. Grants are generally up to £3,000 for capital costs. FUNDING OPPORTUNITY : Tree Council - Community Trees Fund (22 Feb 2012)
The Tree Council provides financial assistance to assist community groups in undertaking well-planned tree planting projects during National Tree Week, which usually takes place in November/December each year. It is a condition of the scheme that projects should actively involve children under the age of 16 in the planting of the trees. This could be through formal groups, such as cubs, guides or youth clubs. The Fund is open to projects where tree planting costs are between £100 and £700. 2012 deadline: 31 March 2012. The overall focus of the charity is to make payments for the benefit of charities within the United Kingdom for the promotion of health particularly for the relief of the disabled and the aged in need. FUNDING OPPORTUNITY : Woodward Charitable Trust (22 Feb 2012)
The Trust aims to support small-scale, locally-based charitable initiatives in the UK. Applications must be in support of the following activities within the Trust's current funding priorities:
- Children who are isolated, at risk of exclusion or involved in anti-social behaviour.
- Minority groups including refugees, gypsies and travellers.
- Prisoners and ex-offenders.
- Disability projects which can include rehabilitation and training.
- Homelessness, especially affecting young people and women.
- Arts outreach work by local groups for the benefit of disadvantaged people.
- Environmental projects, especially with a strong educational element.
The Trust offers: -
- Main grants: Small grants of between £100 and £5,000 and large grants of over £5,000.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITY : Stanley Smith (UK) Horticultural Trust (22 Feb 2012)
Priorities/Aims: The Trust makes grants to support the advancement of horticulture. It specifically supports amenity horticulture and education for amenity horticulture. Petplan Charitable Trust was formed in 1994 by Patsy Bloom and David Simpson. The aim of the Trust is to promote the health and welfare of animals and fund the advancement of veterinary understanding and treatment. The Lankelly Foundation was established in 1968 to support organisations working in any field of charitable endeavour. The Foundation targets its funds to achieve something which otherwise would not happen, or to sustain something which otherwise might fail. The following programmes are available:

FUNDING OPPORTUNITY : Clore Poetry and Literature Awards (22 Feb 2012)
The Foundation offers Performing Arts grants with the aim of providing children and young people to experience poetry and literature at its best. The Programme provides grants ranging from £1,000 to £10,000. The Awards are for new projects rather than for a repeat or extension of an existing project. Awards for Young Musicians (AYM) is a registered charity. AYM supports the UK's most talented young instrumentalists aged five to 17, who, because of financial need, may be prevented from fulfilling their creative potential. AYM assists musically gifted children in families where income is limited to help develop potential. IdeasTap is an arts charity established to help young, creative people at the start of their careers and is responsible for providing Ideas Fund - Innovators. REMINDER : Community First Neighbourhood Match Fund (14 Feb 2012)
A new endowment fund of up to £150 million was launched by the government in January. Community First consists of two strands: the £30m Neighbourhood Match Fund small grants programme for some of the most deprived areas in the country and a national £50m Endowment Match Challenge. Around 600 wards nationwide are eligible to apply for Community First funding. The eligible wards in Rochdale, and their respective allocations, are listed below.
