Vinvolve

Vinvolved is England’s biggest every youth action programme, aimed at 16-25 year olds. Within the borough of Rochdale the project aims to:-

  • Involve young people as an integral part of the national programme
  • Develop a strong youth volunteering infrastructure through the creation of higher quality and better quantity of youth specific volunteering opportunities within the borough
  • Promote and market youth volunteering to young people
  • Directly deliver youth volunteering opportunities to hard to reach young people
  • Maximise youth volunteering and ensure it has a measurable impact on community life – through young people’s civic engagement
  • Health Volunteer Co-ordination Project

This is a 12 month pilot project providing volunteers to support the work of the existing Health Trainer Service within the borough, and to provide volunteer tutors to deliver the “Self Care programme” The course provides training in self care skills to enable participants to be active self carers for minor ailments, acute illness, long term conditions, or in following a healthy lifestyle.

POPPS – Partnership for Older People’s Project

This is a national pilot project which is funded through the Department of Health which are designed to test out new ways of providing services to older people. CVS Rochdale project manage this multi agency partnership project. The project involves a number of linked initiatives including:-

  • Improved community transport
  • Outreach to socially isolated older people
  • Improving access to information
  • Expanding the range of preventitive services and activities provided locally
  • Business startup for older people and carers
  • Expanding the number of volunteers involved in local activities/services

CVSR also directly deliver the following elements of the programme:-

Township Older People’s Partnerships

These are partnerships of older people’s organisations which commission new services in the township which respond to the needs of older people as identified through outreach visits. CVSR provide capacity building and training to the partnership, work with them to provide a township voice for older people, support the commissioning process.

Volunteer Co-ordination

CVS rochdale are also responsible for building a volunteer resource base wtihin each of the Townships to provide volunteers as deliverers of services and to support the new project activities which are commisssioned.
