The purpose of the Workforce Development Programme is to reduce skills gaps within the Voluntary and Community Sector’s Workforce and Governance Structures, and to increase the participation of deprived and marginalised communities in training opportunities.
- Support the Boroughs Voluntary and Community Sector to become an environment that supports it’s committee members, employees and volunteers to develop and grow
- Provide formal and informal Community Management and Leadership Training to the Borough’s Residents and the Voluntary and Community Groups and Organisations that support our local communities
- Encourage the Voluntary and Community Sector to work together in the Learning and Skills arena by developing Partnerships and facilitating Community Networks that support learner engagement
- Increase the level and accessibility of training information and guidance to the Voluntary and Community Sector by working in Partnership with local training providers and supporting them to improve their communication methods
- To deliver both accredited and non accredited training programmes to Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector workers and governance volunteers on a yearly basis
- To deliver informal workshops to Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector workers and volunteers
- To create and develop readily available information about learning and skills opportunities and work in partnership with current training providers to ensure that gaps in provision are identified, developing resources where appropriate and that good practice is highlighted and encouraged. This will be achieved through the co-ordination of the Learning and Skills Network
