Department for Works and Pensions - Changes to the automatic enrolment timetable (Refer to Policy Briefing July 2011)
‘2012 Pension Reforms – Compulsory Employer Contributions’
Following on from the 2012 Pension Reforms, the Government has announced that the timetable for the implementation of automatic enrolment will be adjusted so that small businesses will have some additional breathing space to prepare for the reforms whilst operating in tough economic times. 2012 Pension Reforms – Compulsory Employer Contributions
Following on from the Pensions Act 2008 a number of reforms have been put forward and the coalition government decided to review these reforms, in particular those pertaining to auto-enrolment and the national employment savings trust (NEST). It is expected that with effect from October 2012 legislation will have been enacted requiring employers to contribute into each employee's pension fund.

The law on Agency Workers will change in October
Abolition of the Default Retirement Age - no notices of statutory retirement may be issued after 6th April 2011, and the default retirement age will be completely scrapped from 1st October 2011. For more details on how this will affect employers, please read our Policy Briefing.
Equality Act 2010: Dual Discrimination Provisions Delayed - the government has confirmed that the dual discriminations provisions of the Equality Act 2010 will not be implemented in April as planned. Dual discrimination is when an individual can claim discrimination because of two protected characteristics as part of the same claim, rather than raising two separate claims. Human Resource Support Service
CVS Rochdale provides a low cost Human Resource Service to not for profit organisations based on the number of employees:-

| 16-30 | £1,500.00 |
| 30+ | £2,700.00 |
The package starts with a HR Health Check and HR report about any changes that need to be made. Your organisation would then be able to access the following services at anytime
- HR Documentation /Policies and Procedures -If your organisation employs staff then each one of them must have been given a 'Written Statement of Employment Particulars' or written contract. In addition, your organisation must have written procedures on disciplinary and grievance matters and, if you employ five or more staff, a written Health and Safety Policy. We will support you with the review or development of all of your HR documentation and ensure that your policies and procedures are compliant with current legislation.
- Restructuring & Redundancy - We will offer support with thinking about new structures and how to achieve them, including inentification of redundant posts, re-deployment options and redundancy processes
- Recruitment & Selection - we will support you with every stage of the recruitment process from developing the job description and person specificiation, advertising the vacancy, design and development of interviews questions and assessment methods, as well as helping you to ensure that your organisation is prepared to manage staff.
- Staff Training & Development - We will support with the development of staff induction, development of staff handbooks, training needs analysis, development of learning & development strategies and plans, and the development of supervision and appraisal models
- Governance Support - We will also support your governing body with understanding their legal duties, dealing with grievance, disciplinary and dismissal and ensuring an effective relationship with Chief Executive staff
- Keeping up to date - To ensure that you are kept up to date we provide legal updates and a monthly e-newsletter
