About CVSR

Q. Are there rooms available to hire for meetings and training at CVS?

A. Yes rooms are available, charges are being reviewed at present, but charges to members of CVS are less than to non members.

Group Start Up and Development

Q. Do you offer advice for groups seeking funding?

A. Yes we help groups with a variety of issues, check out our Start-up and Development page to see what we offer and give us a call.

Q. Do we have to come to your office for support?

A. No, we will happily come out and visit your group and we also run Funding Clubs at venues throughout the borough.

 

Learning and Training

Q. Is the training CVS offer free?

A. Most of CVSR training is free to not for profit organisations providing services within the borough.

Q. If we request training which is not present at the time on your list, can you provide this?

A. CVSR can provide bespoke training, however there may be a charge for this

Q. How do we access Central Training Unit courses?

A. Apply to CVS for an application form, which should be returned to us, and CVS will forward this to CTU, who will then contact you direct once a place has been allocated.

Q. How do we access Safeguarding Children courses?

A. Apply to CVS for an application form, which should be returned to us, and CVS will forward this to Safeguarding Children Committee who will then contact you direct once a place has been allocated.

 

Volunteering

Q. How do I find out what volunteering opportunities are available?

A. Come along to the Volunteer Centre for an informal chat about your interests and what you would like to do so that we can match your skills, experience and reasons for wanting to volunteer to the most appropriate opportunity or log on to the National Volunteering Database www.do-it.org

Q. If I volunteer with children or the elderly will I need to be CRB checked and if so will I have to pay anything?

A. People working and volunteering with vulnerable groups of people do have to be checked by the Criminal Records Bureau. This is a very confidential service. There would be no cost for a volunteer have a check undertaken.

Q. Will my out of pocket expenses be paid if I volunteer?

A. Most organizations do pay out of pocket expenses but not all. When you come along to have a chat with a member of the Volunteer Centre and an opportunity for volunteering is identified it will show if expenses can be claimed.
