This department was formed in September 2006, following an Organisational re-structure. 

Aims

The department aims to increase the capacity of local Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector Organisations enabling them to deliver high quality services to their users.

Objectives

• To provide Township based Community Capacity Building Services
• To support the development of small and emerging Community Groups
• To promote the role and value of Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector Organisations
• To provide a Community Resource Bank
• To support the take up of quality assurance systems within the Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector
• To provide Organisational development and management support to Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector Organisations
• To promote good practice on legal matters within Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector Organisations

Community Links services

Start up advice and support

We will provide advice on setting up a Voluntary, Community or Faith Sector Organisation.  We assist with choosing the most appropriate legal structure, developing a Management Committee and creation of a governing document.

Charitable and Company Registration

We will provide support with establishing your organisation as a registered charity or company.

Funding Research

We will help you to research potential funders to meet the needs of your organisation.

Project Development & bid writing

We support the development of project ideas and transferring these into funding applications or project proposals

Business Planning

We will help groups develop their first business and strategic plans or rework and update those of groups who already have them.

Employment

We will help with Human Resource issues, such as the development of policies and procedures which support effective management of staff, including fair recruitment and selection.

Policies and Procedures

We will provide ongoing support and help your organisation to develop appropriate policies (such as Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities policies) to bring you into line with legislation.

Quality Assurance

Assisting organisations put in place Practical Quality Assurance System for Small Organisations (PQASSO).  Users of this system report that the benefits are as follows:-

• Better communication among staff, volunteers and trustees
• Improved ability to involve service users
• More effective planning
• Management systems which support efficient working
• Increased staff and volunteer morale
• More effective monitoring and evaluation systems.
