The purpose of this project is to increase the capacity of third sector organisations, to deliver frontline or grassroots services more effectively. The department provides the a range of advice, information and support services as follows:-

Setup

This includes development of governing documents, governing bodies, relevant policies and procedures, roles and responsibilities of honorary officers and any other constitutional advice or support

Funding

This covers funding research, funding application support, developing project ideas, setting aims, objectives, outcomes, outputs and calculating full cost recovery.

Grants Panel Advisors

Staff from within the project sit on a number of grant making panels in an advisory capacity. This work contributes to making sure that small grants and other VCS funds effectively support voluntary effort and make a difference to local communities. The staff are also able to support grant panels to assess the suitability of the organisations making applications and where groups are rejected for funding can offer extra support to build their capacity.

Policy/Procedure Advice & Support

This covers the development of all policies and procedures necessary for the running of an organisation.
Charitable & Company Registration/ Governance Advice & support
This is mainly for existing groups wishing to change status or needing support with the governance of their organisation. This covers the revision of governing documents and support with registration.

Governance Support

This covers all aspects of the development of a governing body, including development of roles and responsibilities, induction packs, managing meetings, minute taking etc.

Business Planning

This covers the facilitation of members of the organisation to assist with the review of mission, aims, objectives then working on a one to one basis to complete all other sections of the business planning process. Organisations are supported to develop and implement a business plan for their organisation

Quality Assurance

This service offers organisations the opportunity to implement Practical Quality Assurance System for Small Organisations (PQASSO). This is a system developed especially for not for profit organisations and covers all elements of running an organisation. The service provides PQASSO workbooks, implementation training and one to one mentor suppport.

HR Management

This service offers HR Management & Development Advice, Information and Support
Operational Management
This covers all aspects of managing a not for profit organisation including health & safety, equality & Diversity, monitoring & evaluation etc.

The project also offer training to the third sector on the following subject areas:-
