About CVS Rochdale

Introduction

CVS Rochdale is a Borough-wide independent umbrella organisation providing advice, information and support to Voluntary and Community Groups in Heywood, Middleton, Pennines and Rochdale Townships.

CVS Rochdale has developed into the largest general membership body for Voluntary and Community Organisations in the Borough of Rochdale.  Since 1975, CVS has provided a voice for over 1,000 groups ranging from large charities to small self help groups involved in a myriad of Voluntary and Community Actions at a local level. 

Our Aims

1. To promote and support active involvement by people in their communities through Voluntary and Community Activity
2. To provide advice, information and practice services to Voluntary Organisations and act as a signposting service
3. To promote effective communication and active Voluntary Sector Partnerships with the Statutory and Corporate Sector
4. To enable communities to identify and prioritise local needs and develop strategies, services and projects to address these needs

Our key role in influencing Local Government and Strategic Partnerships is balanced with the need to stay connected to our members and the people within our communities.

Our services focus on building the capacity of Community and Voluntary Organisations to achieve their own or greater objectives.  We work with individuals, helping them to become more active, volunteering on local projects, accessing skills and learning opportunities to increase employability and the self-confidence to develop their own ideas.
